Update on my stay in Liverpool

I can’t believe I’ve already spent six weeks in Liverpool. In just six weeks I’m going to be on my way home. But until then I’ll try to enjoy the days left as much as possible. School is pretty much the same; however, the class has changed a lot. Almost half of our group had to go home. Loads of tears were shed, lots of hugs and promises made to keep in touch. I know that there’s one person I will keep in touch, thanks to Twitter, Facebook and Skype.

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one”
C.S. Lewis

What I enjoy probably the most is that I get to know Liverpool more and more. I love that I don’t need a map to get around and I feel like I fit in. I don’t have the word “tourist” written across my face anymore. And that feels pretty darn good to be honest.
What else? It’s hard for me to tell how much my English has improved but I do notice that I have a hard time to change to German sometimes. When I’m talking to my family on my phone I change to English sometimes and I have to keep reminding me that I need to speak Swiss-German.
How cute is that otter?! (Even though he smells kinda bad)
I went to the Blue Planet Aquarium today which was quite nice. I guess after seeing the aquarium in Atlanta nothing can really impress me. Still I enjoy the atmosphere of the aquarium. It might not be quiet on a Bank Holiday like today, however, when I look into one of the tanks I can forget all around me while looking at all the different fish. Walking through the shark tunnel or waiting for the rays to come to the surface. Amazing! One of my favourite things to do.

I’m imagining the phone conversation that led to this correction.
“Good morning, this is the New York Ti—”
“FLUTTERSHY? You wrote that I think of FLUTTERSHY to cheer myself up?! Why don’t you also put it in the paper that I’m nine years old and that my hobbies are collecting cuddles and drawing bunnies, you incompetent jackass. FLUTTERSHY!? There had damn well BETTER be a correction noting my affinity for Twilight Sparkle or I’m going to ram a lawsuit so far up your ass that you will VOMIT RAINBOWS.”
“….got it.”

(Edit: To be clear, I am not making fun of the person who called in the correction. I would’ve called in the correction, too. I’m making fun of the New York Times—and also, to a lesser extent—Fluttershy.)

Nathan Angelo - Love Sucks (from ‘Acoustic Review’)

Yes…love STILL sucks! If you don’t believe me, the guy in the video & the crew singing along with him at the end will remind you of that ever-present reality.

I’m pumped about this project! It drops a week from today - DECEMBER 13TH. Lucky #13, baby! I need your help to spread the word. Get them tweeting fingers ready. It’s time to bombard our facebook profiles & blogs with some UN-holdiay NA holiday cheer! It will be available digitally on iTunes, Amazon mp3 & eMusic - as well as physical copies (which you can get a jump start & pre-order your copy today here: http://tinyurl.com/acousticreviewNA )

Enjoy! Love always (even though love sucks)!

New blog

So I started a new blog in which I’ll write about my experiences as a future exchange student and of course I’ll be posting during my exchange year.
